The key to a happy pregnancy is a healthy, comfortable one. If you have a toddler, you probably spend your time chasing after him; an activity that provides its own form of exercise. As the mother to a rambunctious little one, you need to make sure that you still remember to take care of yourself.
This includes creating a supportive network of family and friends to help you during and after your pregnancy. You want to make sure that the needs of your first child are being met, and you need to attend to your own needs, especially since they impact your unborn child.
Your eldest is going to need some extra TLC from both you and other relatives, especially as your due date approaches, so make sure that he gets one-on-one time with important people in his life. You want him to feel completely secure in his role so that the arrival of the new sibling doesn’t completely derail his sense of home and self. You need to explain to him what having a baby will be like. Otherwise, he will be surprised, and probably a bit resentful, that the baby is not more interactive with him and that he takes up so much of your time.
To keep yourself comfortable during pregnancy, invest in a maternity support belt and compression socks.
