Firm and Extra Firm Compression Socks

Okay, so there was a bit of a delay between the first part of this post and now, but here it is: Firm and Extra Firm compression socks are for individuals who suffer from/are at risk for more serious circulation problems. compression socks

Firm Compression (20-30 mmHg) may be used to treat a number of somewhat severe leg disorders. These ailments may include moderate swelling or edema; mild to moderate leg pain; and, varicose veins of medium severity. Compression socks within this gradient range may also be recommended by a doctor as a method of recuperative care for operations, schlerotherapy, or Endovenous laser treatment (EVLT). These compression socks reduce the risk of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), especially during periods of long travel. These compression socks also help prevent the reoccurrence of venous ulcerations in the legs.

Extra Firm Compression (30-40 mmHg) may be used only by patients with severe circulatory disorders including severe swelling or edema. They also may help correct more severe varicose veins and prevent the reoccurrence of venous ulcerations in the legs. These compression socks may correct chronic venous insufficiency, hypotension, post-DVT, as well as the distended, tortuous veins of the legs that may be associated with pregnancy. A doctor may advise them as a recuperative treatment for post-surgery care, schlerotherapy, or EVLT. Extra Firm compression socks may also be used to address phlebitis, venous insufficiency, and chronic leg fatigue and heaviness.

Consult with your doctor to determine what gradient of compression socks you should use.
