Wear Compression Socks While Traveling

When traveling in a seated position for an extended period of time, such as during a plane or car ride, you should consider wearing compression socks and compression stockings to promote leg comfort and circulation.compression socks

Wearing compression socks, which are sometimes referred to as travel socks, when you travel is believed to greatly reduce your risk of getting blood clots in your legs. Sitting down for long stretches of time, especially in constrained positions, limits your circulation and causes blood to pool in your legs, which may cause a blood clot. In fact, extensive air travel is linked to Travel Thrombosis, a form of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) that occurs in frequent air fliers.  If left untreated, blood clots can be fatal.

Wearing compression socks have been shown to reduce the occurrence of symptomless DVT cases in passengers. Compression socks also reduce the risks of edema in the legs and overall leg discomfort.

If your business requires that you do a lot of air or car travel, you should wear compression socks, especially when you are in transit. The compression socks generate and stimulate blood flow throughout your lower extremities so that the blood does not pool in your legs.
