In order for compression socks to work effectively, they must be worn daily. Compression socks must also be worn properly in order to work properly. To put on compression socks, you should follow these steps:
Remember that compression garments are easiest to don when you first get out of bed, before any swelling may develop. Your legs should be dry or have a thin layer of cornstarch or powder on them. Remove any rings and jewelry and wear rubber gloves in order to prevent accessories from snagging or fingernails from tearing the garment. Rubber gloves also help create friction and provide better grip. Spread the compression attire evenly; do not roll, gather, or bunch up the fabric. And, when you take them off in the evening, apply a moisturizing skin cream to your legs.
